Deep yellow/orange with dusky brown upper body; black and white “raccoon” markings around eyes; brown diagonal lines across body; 1 – 3 wide black diagonal bands from mask to dorsal fin; black spot at tail base. Attempts at captive breeding have been unsuccessful. Harvesting by the aquarium trade has caused sharp declines in their abundance on many coral reefs.
