Valentini Puffer


White body; 4 dark brown to black bars/saddles; tan spots. Somewhat elongated snout. To 3.5 inches. Attempts at captive breeding have been unsuccessful.

Tan to greenish brown on upper body; mottled light tan/white below, often with dark bands on belly; white spots. To 19 inches. Attempts at captive breeding have been unsuccessful.

Dogface Pufferfish


Highly variable colors and markings; body generally grey, tan or brown and some with yellow; dark spots; dark markings on mouth and often around eyes. To 13 inches. Some aquaculture success has been achieved at the experimental level only.

Moorish Idol


White to mid-body, then yellow; 2 wide black bars extending to pelvic and anal fins; yellow saddle on elongated snout; long trailing filament dorsal fin. Per Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine, 73% of these fragile beauties survive less than a week in captivity. Attempts at captive breeding have been unsuccessful.

Lookdown


Reflective white to silver/blue body; extremely sloped foreheads; elongated mouths; compressed body. Though captive-bred Lookdowns as small as 1 inch are sometimes available, their maximum size at adulthood and x-large tank requirement makes them suitable only for public display aquariums.

Various snail species are aquacultured by ORA and Indo-Pacific Sea Farms. The strombus and trochus typically remain smaller than 1 inch. The turbo may reach 3″.

White body; thin red bars and lines. Peppermint Shrimps are aquacultured by ORA and other facilities.  Wild cleaner and scavenger shrimps such as these play essential roles on the reef and should never be purchased for the aquarium hobby.
